HISTORY
Plaza Hotel goes as far back as the 17th century, when the land was assigned to father Don Cristobal Bonifax de Rivera by the Spanish crown. It was only in the 19th century that the Creole Family Pedroso’s townhouse was first built on this land. The house was reconstructed in 1898 into the headquarters of “El Diario” newspaper and in 1902 into a hotel by the American businessman Fletcher-Smith.
