1997,
one hundred years after its first opening, this hotel was once again welcoming
guests with its original sense of elegance and comfort. The view from roof terrace
encompasses the fortress that once protected Old Havana, the marble statue of
Christ on the other side of the bay in Casablanca, the La Giraldilla City Emblem
and the Palacio de los Capitanes Generales, the first residence of the former
Spanish Governor in La Habana.
Hotel Santa Isabel
In the Plaza de Armas, and just a few meters from the site where in 1519 the
city San Cristobel de la Habana was founded, the Hotel Santa Isabel lords over
one of the most beautiful parts of Old Havana. The former splendid palace of
the Count of Santovenia, with a suite dedicated especially to him, was converted
to a hotel in 1867 for the privileged merchants, artists, scientists, ship builders
and an illustrious circle of guests who sought the comfort and luxury of this
hotel.
