Afterwards departure to Santa Clara. Santa Clara is known as the "City of Che Guevara" because he sealed the fate of the Batista regime by capturing the city during the revolution in 1958. Many monuments witness the veneration paid to the popular hero and are part of the worldwide cult around the figure of Che Guevara, who died in Bolivia in 1967.
Magnificent buildings and monuments in Santa Clara
After arriving in the center of Santa Clara, enjoy a relaxing walk in Parque Vidal and visit the imposing 19th century Teatro La Caridad, where the then world famous tenor Enrico Caruso performed as early as 1920.
Visit to the monument Tren Blindado. In 1958, the guerrillas attacked and derailed an armored train that dictator Batista had sent east for reinforcements, in Santa Clara, which eventually led to the victory of the revolutionaries. The sculptor José Delarra, using original military wagons, created this monument in memory of the events. Inside the wagons are exhibited historical photographs, weapons and other relics of this battle. On the site is the bulldozer that was used by the revolutionaries to destroy the tracks at the time.

Visit to the Che Guevara memorial, the Monumento y Memorial Ernesto Che Guevara. This was inaugurated on the 30th anniversary of the revolution, on 28.12.1988. Next to a an impressive bronze statue, nearly 7 meters high, is the mausoleum where Che Guevara's mortal remains were solemnly interred in 1997. A museum displays numerous exhibits from the life of the revolutionary.
Very interesting is the statue "Che and the Child", designed with many hidden details by the artist, placed in front of the political party headquarters in Santa Clara. The last stop on this day’s tour leaves you with a splendid panoramic view of Santa Clara, on top of the Loma del Capiro viewpoint.
